Introductory classes are a wonderful, cost effective way to introduce a young dancer to the joy of dance (tap, jazz, ballet and hip hop). In these classes, students will learn movements that will transform into beginning dance steps and basic choreography. These fun and diverse classes will allow the student to experience more than just one discipline he or she wants to pursue.
Your typical jazz appeals to all ages and is designed to build self-confidence, rhythm, coordination and flexibility. We do require that all our competitive students stay abreast of the latest jazz techniques. Today’s competitive jazz is not your typical jazz, but jazz funk with the fast pace of hip hop which requires strong technique in hip hop as well.
Hip Hop allows a dancer more freedom of self expression. It is fun, exciting and extremely popular at all ages. This class is also a big hit with our male students. Our all boys Hop Hop classes are very popular and always a hit with the audience. Lyrics, choreography and costuming age appropriateness are always our focus when it comes to performance.
Ballet is a great foundation for all disciplines. It is a wonderful way to build grace, confidence and flexibility. We do require that all our competitive student start with the five basic ballet positions and expand on those positions as level of maturity and tenure at the Academy increases.
Lyrical combines the technique of ballet with the freedom of movement and expression of jazz. Previous dance experience is a preferred but not required
Acrobatics uses strength and flexibility to perform gymnastic-based tricks. In this class, students perform conditioning exercises to prepare them for increased difficulty. It teaches flexibility, balance, strength, and coordination.
